Our award winning lights are made to last. The Sun King comprises 10 high quality LEDs encased in a water resistant casing. A five metre cable is used to connect the light unit to the solar panel. When placed in direct sunlight for ten hours the light shines brightly for up to 16 hours.

Our state of the art advanced lithium-ion battery offers an unparalelled 3-year lifetime, after which it can be replaced extremely cheaply and easily.

The stand enables the light to be used either as a desk lamp, mounted on the wall or hanging freely to easily light up a typical home in rural Africa.

In June 2010, the Sun King lantern, was recognized by the World Bank’s "Lighting Africa" Program as the best solar task light on the market. Won the Canopus Foundation ‘Solar for All Design Contest', which aims to find the best technical innovations to make solar technology affordable and accessible for the developing world.     Updated 3 February 2011
